Child Abuse Prevention Network
Who They Are:
The Child Abuse Prevention Network is an organization focused on
preventing child abuse in Dallas, TX and surrounding areas.

Their Mission:
The Child Abuse Prevention Network's mission is to break the cycle of child
abuse by equipping parents for success.  Their mission resonates through
their four educational and counseling programs for families at risk for child
abuse.  The center works to empower its clients by teaching positive
parenting methods and supporting parents in strengthening their families
emotionally, economically, physically and socially.  CAP is a kep provider of
prevention services for at-risk families in Dallas county.

How to get involved:
Ways to get volunteer with the Child Abuse Prevention Network include:

Joining their Families First Program
Families First volunteers work one Saturday per month with the children
of divorcing parents. Volunteers are trained in the children’s curriculum
and help the children explore feelings about their changing lives. Training,
interviews, and criminal background checks are required. Volunteers must
commit to five Saturdays, annually, and attend an eight-hour training
session.

Joining their Parent Aide Program
Volunteer Parent Aide Mentors conduct weekly home visits to a family at-risk
for child abuse and neglect. Volunteers provide support and guidance in the
areas of parenting, discipline, goal-setting, and problem-solving. Training,
interviews, and criminal background checks are required. We ask that Parent
Aide volunteers commit to four hours a week.

Becoming and Educator with their Shaken Baby Syndrome Education Program
Volunteer Shaken Baby Syndrome Educators are trained to speak to middle
school and high school students about the dangers of shaking babies.
Other topics include SIDS and Postpartum Depression. Training,
interviews, and criminal background checks are required. SBS Educators
volunteer four hours weekly.

Adopting a family in their Adopt-a-Family Program
Every Christmas, CAP Center donors adopt families who otherwise may
not be able to provide their children with Christmas Presents. Wish
lists are provided to donors from the families. Adopt-a-Family makes a
great family or group project for people of all ages!

such as the Celebrity Waiter Gala, CAP Center Classic Golf
Tournament, and the Voices for Children Breakfast. Volunteers are
